Biography
My commitment to painting emerged from an overwhelming desire to understand and express feeling.
I was born in Melbourne in 1946. At age thirty-two I was confronted with an unexpected lifestyle change and decisions to make. I visited a friend who lived in Airlie Beach, Nth Qld. I fell in love with the far tropical north, its warmth, beauty and colour also friendliness. I wanted to stay. I wanted to paint my feelings. I wanted to learn more skills. I wanted to know more about the 'art world'.
In 1982 I became a full time Fine Arts student at Townsville TAFE. It was a challenging, serious and enlightening world. I was introduced to new experiences, skills, knowledge colleagues and self-awareness beyond my dreams. I felt at home in this baffling yet exciting world of creative visual art.
Thus the seed for a creative lifestyle was planted. My ongoing commitment has been to nurture and nourish the seed as I started to learn, grow, understand, explore, change and mature. These stages of development have spanned a forty year period.
Transition: 2010 - 2019
I realised that art is a powerful healing tool.
My painting practice became more experimental, experiential, exploratory.
I began making small story/art healing pieces.
I published daily art/word pieces that I call 'heart & soul pourings' under the heading 'blog' on the website
I introduced an on-going interest in Evolutionary Consciousness and Spiritual Awakening.
I participated in courses that helped to develop writing skills and to create a small creative business.
I designed a program called 'Creative Art & Joy of Colour' which I taught at U3A. 2016/17
